The principal mission of the GLRC Foundation is to raise funds and awareness for the programs and services offered at Great Lakes Recovery Centers.

This is done through writing grant proposals and managing funded grants, developing and participating in community events, including fundraising events, and accepting charitable gifts from individuals, businesses, and organizations.

As a 501(c)(3) organization, your gift to the GLRC Foundation may qualify as a charitable deduction for federal income tax purposes.

Strega Nonna Benefit Concert

One word: Awesome.

That pretty much sums up the success of our Great Lakes Recovery Centers’ 19th Annual Run for Recovery in September and subsequent Benefit Concert/Buffet held on Oct. 10.

Although final numbers are still being tabulated, we’re projected to net more than $25,000 from the two events.

The biggest winners? Our clients.

Proceeds from the two Great Lakes Recovery Centers’ events go to the Compassionate Care Fund. This fund is available for clients across the Upper Peninsula who are uninsured, underinsured and otherwise lack the financial resources to seek care at GLRC. Last year alone, 87 clients utilized this fund to get the help and treatment they needed.

This fund is available, and we encourage those who need it to seek financial support.

We are so incredibly thankful to the many sponsors and participants who played incredible roles in ensuring the success of our events. We are thankful to TruNorth Federal Credit Union for being the presenting sponsor for the Run For Recovery and to the two dozen other sponsors who saw the value in our run and supported. We thank the nearly 100 runners/walkers who participated in our event.

We are very thankful to Dr. Mike Grossman who provided financial resources and expert help for both of our events.

On Oct. 10, more than 70 people gathered at Strega Nonna in Negaunee for our benefit meal and concert. Guests were treated to a sensational buffet, followed by entertainment from up-and-coming musical artist Ashley Lynne, a special guest from Nashville and her band, the Breakers. Mother Nature did us a huge, huge favor, blessing us with 70-degree temperatures to enable us to hold the concert outdoors. It was an evening to remember!
